Bon Echo Provincial Park

After a long awaited winter and spring and having to book 6 months in advance we finally made it to Bon Echo Provincial Park!

This park is honestly a gem.

This park features great hiking trails, bike trails, sandy beaches, and great campsites.

Located about 2 hours east of Peterborough Ontario we cruised on highway 7 in the usual long weekend traffic but as you turn onto Highway 41 you begin to see Ontario's northern charm with its Canadian Shield and thick forest and my favorite the isolation.

Park staff were quick and efficient getting us in and we headed to our campsite to get setup.

We had slim pickings when booking in January but we had no complaints! The site was clean level and even a little private!

Over the next few days we hiked, rode bikes and had our fair share of campfires, my only complaint is the firewood.

Ontario Parks unfortunately seems to always have terrible wood which only smolders and doesn't burn without constant assistance but that's a small thorn at the end of the day.

If you're interested in renting a boat we rented a 20ft Pontoon boat from Smarts Marina down the road.

They had great service, the boat was clean ran great and was affordable for what a boat rental normally runs and we got a an even better up close view of the legendary Bon Echo Wall!

Overall it was a great stay and if you're looking for a northern getaway with no service and an isolated feel this if definitely the spot!
